WHAT’S BETTER THAN WINNING THREE GONGS AT THE WHAT CAR? AWARDS?
The winner’s spotlight was trained on Hyundai’s logo more than most at What Car? magazine’s annual awards ceremony, which this year was held in central London on Tuesday 22 January.
Hyundai picked up four awards, including the Technology Award for its pioneering work in battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Meanwhile, IONIQ was named Hybrid Car of the Year, IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid Premium won Best Plug-in Hybrid for less than £30,000, and i30 N won Best Hot Hatch for £22,000-£27,000.
“In a short space of time, Hyundai has carved itself a reputation for class-leading hybrid, electric and even hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, making it a worthy winner of both our Technology Award and our Hybrid Car of the Year title,” said What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford. “But its work at the opposite end of the spectrum can’t be ignored; i30 N entered the hot hatch market with a bang, bringing with it impeccable driving dynamics and incredible value for money.”
